Open Shipping Days move to Antwerp Expo
For the upcoming edition of the Open Shipping Days, we have decided to relocate from Waagnatie to Antwerp Expo. The reason for this change is that construction work is planned along the quays, and at the start of our preparations, the full impact of this work was not yet clear.
We had initially decided to move the exhibition to February, in order to avoid any logistical challenges caused by the works – such as accessibility, set-up and dismantling, and parking during the event. We were enthusiastic about having found an alternative date in February that would allow the exhibition to go ahead without the restrictions caused by the quay works at Waagnatie. However, this date coincided with the Carnival (spring half-term) holidays, leading many exhibitors to indicate that they would not be able to participate.
For that reason, we have chosen a different date and, automatically, a new location. This way, we avoid any issues caused by holidays, construction work, or the Antwerp 10 Miles on Sunday 26 April. During this event, the city centre – including Waagnatie – is difficult to access by car. Antwerp Expo, on the other hand, remains easily accessible even during the 10 Miles and also offers ample parking facilities.
